Description
Some bulb seam profiles utilize a one-piece stationary clip (or “halter”) to anchor the roof to the structure. This is typical of Kalzip. (ZipRib generally utilizes a moveable two-piece clip.) When a stationary “halter” is used for roof attachment, the halter location must be avoided when using the S-5-Z. Alternatively, the S-5-ZH Mini can be used at halter locations, preserving roof design integrity while attaching near or directly over a halter.
The S-5-ZH Mini (“ZH” stands for Zip-Hinge) is specifically designed for round “bulb” seam configurations. Mount solar and other light-duty applications to “bulb” seams, such as Kalzip, Zip-Rib and other similar profiles.
When mounted at a single-piece clip (or halter) location, the hinge design of the ZH Mini prevents the clamp from pinning the roof to the clip (halter), so roof panels slide freely over the clip (halter) preserving the roof’s freedom of thermal movement.
In like fashion to the Z-Mini, the ZH Mini can also be paired with the S-5-PVKIT for an economical, time and labor-saving rail-less (direct-attach™) solar mounting solution. Clamps and PVKITs as well as other solar racking can be placed where desired – no need to avoid clip (halter) locations.
The ZH Mini clamp attaches to the seam with a single setscrew. All Mini clamps undergo rigorous negative load normal-to-seam (uplift) testing. Please refer to our load testing for holding capacities of this clamp on different materials and seam specifics.

Delivered what was promised
Rapid Materials' S-5-N Seam Clamp was exactly what I needed to easily mount four 200W solar panels on our 12' x 10' backyard shed's metal roof. Installation took minutes, and love that these don't damage the actual metal seams. Even better, the Rapid Materials team member helped me quickly pick the right model of clamp after measuring and sharing a photo of the seam. Having never mounted anything on a metal roof before, I was delighted with how simple this was, and have been referring neighbors to Rapid Materials accordingly.

i suggest using an anti-seize product on the set screw, if you ever want to get it off in the future.
Stainless and aluminum make for a permanent bond of corrosion, have way too much experience with the such.
This is my second purchase. This order came with the clamping threaded holes and the counter divot in the clamping pieces not perfectly aligned. It caused the mechanism to bump the next row of panels up about a 16th of an inch. Not much, but not perfect as was my previous order. Shipping is also pretty high. Love the concept, and the parts are robust!
I will be buying more.

For our local 1.5" standing seam snap lock 16" wide panels, these are incredible. We use them to mount shallow channel for solar panels. Perfect fitment and fast install.
These Seam Clamps work well on a 1-inch standing seam roof; they grip well and do not slide off like other clamps.

Make sure you know the shape of your metal roof. Once you know that, buy the appropriate S5! clamp style. I had to go through two different varieties to get the right one.
I used four of these and two cross members to attach my Starlink antenna. It was simple and straightforward, and the connection is robust for me not to worry about it at all.
Bought these to clamp our Starlink base (built out of square tube stock) to a 1” standing seam roof. Works perfectly for the application. Wish they came in four or six packs but otherwise turned out excellent.
These things are heavy duty and work perfect on standing seam roofs for mounting about anything. Buy with confidence.
