GutterBrush FAQ
What is GutterBrush and how does it work?
GutterBrush is a cylindrical, bristle-style gutter guard that sits directly inside your existing gutter. The stiff bristles help block leaves and debris from packing into the gutter channel, while rainwater flows through and around the bristles and down the downspout.
Instead of covering the top of the gutter like a screen or helmet system, it works inside the gutter to reduce clog buildup at the source.
Does GutterBrush fit all gutter types?
We currently offer GutterBrush in 5" and 6" sizes to fit the most common residential gutter systems.
These sizes are designed for:
- 5" and 6" K-style (ogee) gutters
- 5" and 6" half-round gutters, including European half-round profiles (like Zambelli and Nordic Steel)
Always measure your gutter width before ordering to ensure the correct fit. If you’re unsure, measure across the top opening of the gutter from front lip to back.
Will water overflow in heavy rain?
When properly sized for the gutter, water flows through the bristles and into the gutter channel—even during heavy rain. The open-flow design allows water to pass through instead of sheeting over the edge like some top-mounted covers can.
Proper gutter slope and clean downspouts are still important for peak performance.
Does it require maintenance?
Yes—but it’s simple.
Unlike enclosed systems, GutterBrush is easy to remove, shake clean, and reinstall if debris builds up on top. In most environments, light seasonal maintenance (especially after heavy leaf drop) is sufficient.
It helps reduce clogs, but no gutter protection system is completely maintenance-free.
Will it damage my roof or void warranties?
GutterBrush installs inside the gutter and does not attach to shingles, fascia, or metal roofing panels. There are no fasteners, screws, or roof penetrations required.
Because it doesn’t interfere with the roof system itself, it avoids many of the warranty concerns associated with some top-mounted gutter guards.
Is GutterBrush good for pine needles and small debris?
The dense bristle design helps trap leaves and larger debris before they compact into the gutter channel. It also reduces buildup from pine needles, seed pods, and roof grit, though very fine debris may still settle over time and require periodic cleaning.
How long does GutterBrush last?
GutterBrush features a galvanized steel core with UV-protected polypropylene bristles designed to withstand years of sun and weather exposure. Longevity depends on climate and debris load, but it’s built for multi-year durability in typical residential conditions.
Can homeowners install it themselves?
Yes. Installation is simple:
- Slide sections into the gutter.
- Push them end-to-end.
- Bend gently around corners as needed.
No tools, cutting, glue, or fasteners are required. Many homeowners install it themselves, while contractors often add it during existing gutter or roofing work.
How is GutterBrush different from metal screens or helmet systems?
Unlike top-mounted systems that rely on surface tension or tight perforations, GutterBrush:
- Sits inside the gutter
- Doesn’t require fastening under shingles
- Is easy to remove and clean
- Typically costs less than permanent cover systems
- Can be installed in minutes rather than hours
It’s a simple, practical solution rather than a permanently attached system.
