  • Description

The Malco FSXC Power-Assisted Standing Seam Cutter is built for fast, controlled removal of 1″ and 1.5″ single or double mechanical lock panels. Designed to attach directly to your contractor-grade cordless drill, this cutter delivers speeds up to 56 feet per minute (17 m/min), making it one of the fastest standing seam removal tools available.

The FSXC is engineered to cut below the mechanical lock and through panel clips in a single operation. That means faster tear-offs, safer workflow, and less panel distortion compared to prying or grinding.

This cutter works on stainless steel, steel, aluminum, copper, and zinc panels within its rated capacity, allowing roofing professionals to confidently quote repair, retrofit, and replacement jobs knowing removal won’t slow the crew down.

Driven by your cordless drill, there are no cords to manage and no bulky equipment to haul to the roof. The compact design allows efficient operation while maintaining control and visibility.

Each unit ships in a premium IP67-rated waterproof hard case with custom foam inserts to protect the cutter during transport and storage.

Malco FSXC Power-Assisted Standing Seam Cutter – 1″ & 1.5″ Standing Seam

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the maximum steel thickness this model can cut?

The FSXC is rated for:

  • 24-gauge steel
  • 26-gauge stainless steel
  • .040″ aluminum
  • 20 oz copper
  • 1mm zinc

Cutting material thicker than the rated capacity may damage the tool or reduce performance.

What type of standing seam panels does this cutter work on?

These cutters are designed specifically for mechanical lock standing seam panels (single or double lock).

They are not intended for snap-lock systems or exposed fastener panels.

Always verify your seam height before ordering:

  • FSXC → 1″ to 1.5″ seams
  • FSXC2 → 1.5" to 2″ seams

What type of drill is required?

The cutter attaches directly to a contractor-grade cordless drill.

For best performance, use:

  • 18V or 20V drill
  • High torque setting
  • Variable speed control
  • Side handle for added stability

Higher torque improves cutting performance, especially on thicker steel panels.

Does it cut through panel clips?

Yes. The cutter is engineered to cut below the mechanical lock and through panel clips in one continuous operation, reducing the need for prying or secondary tools.

Will this damage the roof deck underneath?

When used properly, the cutter follows the seam and is designed to cut only the locked panel area and clips. It is not intended to contact the roof deck.

Maintain proper feed rate and drill control to ensure clean operation.

Is this faster than grinding or manually separating seams?

Yes. With cutting speeds up to 56 feet per minute, this tool significantly reduces labor time compared to grinding, prying, or manual seam separation methods.
