How do I install the S-5-U Clamp?

Installation is simple:

  1. Place the clamp on your roof seam (vertically or horizontally).
  2. Tighten the two T-30 Torx setscrews to the recommended torque.
  3. Use the included M8 bolt to secure your snow retention, solar panel bracket, or other accessory.

Is the S-5-U clamp compatible with my roof?

The S-5-U works with many common standing seam profiles, including:

  • 3" trap double-fold
  • 2-1/2" and 1-1/2" double-fold
  • 2-3/8" and 2-1/2" single-fold

If your seam is horizontal, it must project at least 0.65” for a secure fit.

What's the difference between the S-5-U and other clamps?

Can I reuse an S-5! clamp after installation?

S-5! clamps are designed for a secure, long-term attachment. Once installed, the setscrews create a dimple in the seam and natural oxidation begins, effectively locking the clamp in place. Because of this, clamps that have been installed should not be reused or repositioned. Reinstallation may compromise holding strength and void any performance expectations.

If a clamp is accidentally misaligned during the initial install, it can usually be repositioned right away. But after the oxidation process begins, S-5! does not recommend removing and reinstalling the clamp.
