The S-5!® GripperFix Satellite Dish Mounting Kit for Standing Seam Roofs provides a secure, non-penetrating attachment point for most standard* satellite dishes, antennas, and communication devices. This system uses S-5! clamps to fasten directly to standing seams with no holes, no leaks, and no compromise to roof performance or warranty.

Each kit includes everything needed to install almost any standard* satellite dish on virtually any standing seam metal roof on the market. Installation typically takes 15 to 20 minutes using only basic hand tools.

Selecting the Correct Clamp:
This kit utilizes genuine S-5! clamps that attach to the roof seams and serve as the foundation for the GripperFix system. Selecting the proper clamp is essential for a safe and lasting installation. Clamp choice depends on the roof panel type and seam profile. Refer to the S-5! clamp selection tool or contact Rapid Materials for guidance in choosing the correct model for your roof.

The GripperFix system creates a strong, weather-tight foundation for attaching satellite and antenna mounts without penetrating panels or using sealants. It provides long-term protection against leaks and corrosion and is compatible with Starlink®, DirecTV®, DISH®, HughesNet®, Ubiquiti®, and many other communication or monitoring systems.

• 4 x M8-1.25x17mm Flanged Bolts (Bolts the CF Tab to the Clamp)
• 4 x M8-1.25x40mm Flanged Bolts (Inserts into the GripperFix Strut. Satellite
  dish is mounted to these bolts)

Tools you will need for installation:

• Tape Measure
• Drill/Screw Gun
• 13mm wrench or socket, or adjustable wrench
• * Hacksaw or Sawzall with 14tpi minimum metal cutting blade (Recommended if you need to cut strut)
• * Torque Wrench (Recommended for inch/lb for clamp set screws)

Installation Torque Guidance

Clamp set screws should be torqued to the minimum recommended torque for the clamp and panel combination specific to your roof. This value is typically between 115 and 175 inch-pounds, with 135 inch-pounds representing the torque at which most clamps were tested. Most standard 18-volt drills or screw guns can reach this range, but using a torque wrench ensures proper tension and consistent clamp performance.
A properly calibrated torque wrench prevents over-tightening, protects the roof panel, and guarantees that the S-5! clamp performs as designed.

Mount Compatibility Notes

Each S-5!® GripperFix Satellite Dish Mounting Kit includes M8 × 40 mm bolts (approximately 5/16" × 1-9/16"). These bolts are compatible with many (though not all) satellite and antenna mounting bases. Because base thickness and hole sizes vary among manufacturers, review the notes below before installation.

General Guidelines

• Confirm that your mounting base accepts 8 mm (≈ 5/16") bolts. If the holes are smaller, they may need to be carefully enlarged to fit.
• Always ensure that drilling or modifying a mounting base does not void the manufacturer’s warranty.
• Pre-assemble your hardware to confirm bolt length and fit before installation.

Brand-Specific Notes

Starlink®

• Most Starlink mounts are compatible with the included M8 × 40 mm bolts.
• The Volcano Base and Pivot Base are recommended for use with this kit. Some versions may still require slightly enlarging the mounting holes with a 5/16" drill bit.
• The Standard Base may not be compatible out of the box. Hole diameters are often too small for 8 mm bolts, and there may not be enough surrounding material to safely drill them out. Use caution and consult Starlink support if uncertain.
• Older Starlink dishes may have thicker bases that the 40 mm bolts will not accommodate. In this case, longer bolts are required. We recommend pre-assembling the dish to the GripperFix rail to confirm the correct length, then sourcing longer bolts locally.

DirecTV®, DISH®, HughesNet®, Ubiquiti®, and other systems

• Generally compatible with the supplied hardware. Verify hole spacing and bolt diameter before final assembly, and ensure the mounting base provides sufficient structural support.
